About DECADENCE SLC
Knife Party is an Australian electronic dance music duo. They formed from two members of the drum and bass band Pendulum, Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen. They were ranked at #53 on DJ Magazine's annual Top 100 DJs poll, #22 on thedjlist, and #9 based on 2013–2014 data conducted by Topple Track and JustGo Music.
The duo met and performed music since 2002 in various different bands and music projects, eventually forming drum and bass band Pendulum. While the band had three charted albums and singles, the two original members created Knife Party as a side project, although it evolved into their primary project. On 25 May 2011, Swire released a short preview on SoundCloud entitled "Not Pendulum". The name is derived from a Deftones song of the same name.
Knife Party's first EP, 100% No Modern Talking, was released digitally through Warner Bros. Records on 12 December 2011. The EP originally was to feature "Back to the Z-List" but was replaced with "Destroy Them with Lazers" as the duo had decided to abandon the track. The EP title refers to the lack of "Modern Talking", a wavetable in the software synthesiser NI Massive commonly used to create "talking" basslines. A tweet in December 2011 suggested the possibility of a remix EP in the future.
Electronic music, mega-legends Infected Mushroom are best known for being the sonic innovators of the "Psychedelic (Psy) Trance" genre. Twice ranked amongst the world's "10 Best DJ's" by the Bible of the Scene (U.K.'s DJ Magazine) and with over 14 million hits on YouTube and a #8 position on the Billboard chart, the Israel-bred, L.A. based duo Amit "Duvdev" Duvdevani and Erez Eisen have ranked their "kingdom" amongst the highest in the scene.
Adoring fans continue to descend below their stage en masse as all walks coming together for the same reason: to experience Infected Mushroom, the world's greatest Psy Trance band of the decade.
On trajectory from Denmark and Norway, the Pegboard Nerds have crash landed on the global electronic music landscape with meteoric force. The impact of their genre-bending music has been felt by peers and industry mainstays alike. With a string of hit singles on independent Canadian label "Monstercat" gaining millions of plays and the attention of fans over the world, it's no coincidence that the hottest names in the game have begun to pay attention. From collaborating and remixing the likes of Krewella to Infected Mushroom, to being hand selected by Knife Party as show support, Pegboard Nerds' ticket to international acclaim has been stamped.
In just the past year Pegboard Nerds have lead a conquest over the worldwide festival circuit, with explosive sets at the UK's Global Gathering, Creamfields, Leeds Festival and Reading Festival, Canada's SummersEND, and Paradiso and SMF in the US. The buzz proceeding every performance has afforded them invitations to every place imaginable, from Ibiza fixture Amnesia to the Moscow Arena, right back to top clubs across the States – no one and no where is safe from the Nerds.
Josh Gard has had a long history in music, and lately he has been rapidly rising up the ranks for all things bass. Just a few short years ago he donned the name Figure and began making electro house, but has since become a regular name in all realms of electronic and dance. Scoring positions among the charts may have gotten him recognition, but a hefty amount of praise has been raining down on him lately as some of the leading artists in electronic music have valued his live performance skills as some of the best in the business.
With releases alongside industry heavyweights Diplo, Tommy Lee, Flux Pavilion, Excision, BT, Tommy Sunshine, and Borgore, as well as a robust catalog of originals, bootlegs, and remixes, Figure's signature sound has earned him a cult following amongst a growing number of insatiable fans. In 2011, his Monsters of Drumstep series married his love of horror with his immense production skills to become the soundtrack for the Halloween season. His follow up "Destruction Series" added a new ride to the amusement park with twists and turns through an intergalactic electro war armed with robots and missile drop laser synths.
"I just like how artists present a package of something close to an adventure... Like a theme park of sound that is an experiment and experience for everyone," states Gard.
When he's not on tour or recording in his hometown studios in rural Indiana, Gard is touring worldwide, with packed tents at festivals like EDC, SnowGlobe, Starscape, The Bounce, Creamfields Australia, and Belgium's Dour. His constant interaction with fans is more akin to maintaining a healthy family than what one usually finds in a social media marketing age. Supporters are supplied with the latest productions for free and the guest list is reserved for fans in need.
