Drouth

Portland, Oregon's Drouth trawl through sludgy doom, torrential black metal, and metallic crust to conjure a fearlessly dynamic sound that is equal parts dissonant and melodic, seething and reflective. With lyrical themes indebted to Borges, Ellison and Camus, Drouth take influence from bands as diverse as Celtic Frost, Eyehategod, Taake, Agalloch, and Tragedy. Initially formed in Portland, Oregon in winter 2012 under the name Contempt, the band released the "Skinwalker" demo and toured the US west coast in 2014. After a lineup shuffle including the addition of drummer Pat Fiorentino (Vermin Womb) and guitarist Chris Conway, they re-emerged as Drouth, releasing the 3-song "Vast, Loathsome" EP in May 2015.
